The Party That is Potty Training

Potty training always seemed like a mystery … how is it that we all manage to go to the bathroom without accidents?  It seems like an impossible task when you’re training your little one.  And the idea that they’ll some day not pee in their sleep (whether it’s nap time or night time) is an even bigger impossibility … until one day, IT HAPPENS. They go a full day, a full week, a month without an accident …  Ah, the relief! Sidebar: I will NEVER not have pull ups in stock though … you know, just-in-case.  Oh, and I still have a little one who’s upwards of a year from even contemplating potty training! Diapers are very much a staple in my house!

Best part of potty training is the conversations you get to have … by far! Here’s a recent one from the Momster household:

I duck into the bathroom for a quick visit and in barges the 3.5 year old.
“Do you need to go to the bathroom?” I ask.

“Yep, just like you.”

“Do you need to pee?”  I ask to confirm.

“Yep, and poop.”

As I’m ducking out to give him privacy he clarifies the plan of action, “Maybe just poop.”

“Well,that’s good too,” I say.

“Maaaoooommm, I’m going to show youuuuuuu!”

“Thanks buddy!”

“What stinks?”

Ah, good times.
